What are Parabens? Can they harm your skin?

Are parabens okay for your skin?

Parabens are preservatives that are used in cosmetic products. Parabens help to keep the cosmetic products from expiring in a short period of time thereby increasing the shelf-life of cosmetics.

Parabens prevent bacteria and fungi from infecting the cosmetic products.

The most common types of parabens used in cosmetic products are butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutyl paraben and methyl paraben. These parabens are used in very small amounts to preserve the cosmetic products.

Extensive research on parabens has indicated that parabens do not harm your skin.
