Botox is used to treat fine wrinkles on the face and is a temporary anti-aging solution. Botox removes fine lines and makes the skin smooth wrinkle free. This is an anti-aging procedure which makes your skin smooth and looking young again.

Botox is injected in small amounts directly to the muscle under the wrinkled skin. This helps remove creases on the forehead and near the eyes (crow's feet) and smoothens the skin. Botox also helps to remove frown lines.

What exactly is Botox??

Botox is the brand name of a toxin produced by bacteria - Clostiridium botulinum. This bacteria is associated with food poisoning, but when injected in small amounts causes controlled weakening of muscles.

Botox blocks all signals from the brain to the muscle. When this happens the muscles stops contracting further, this helps the wrinkles to relax and soften.

The procedure

This procedure does not need any anaesthetic and causes slight pain. It is directly injected using a fine needle directly to the muscle under the skin. The full effect of Botox can be seen 3-7 days after the injection has been given.

The person who has received botox may have slight bruising or headaches. This usually lasts for about a day or two.

The effect of botox lasts for about 2-3 months. After this period the person must undergo the procedure once again.

Before going ahead with this procedure consult your doctor to be on the safe side.
