Lips are very delicate and sensitive. Lips are soft and very sensitive. The skin covering your lips is very thin when compared to the rest of your body.

Reasons why lips crack -

Lips become dry due to the following reasons -

  • Licking your lips frequently
  • Allergies
  • Vitamin deficiency
  • Not enough hydration
  • Weather

How take care?

Apply lip balm whenever you go out during winter. During winter the air is very dry and will absorb all the moisture present in your lips making them dry and prone to cracks.

Apply a light coat of lip balm in summer, before going out. The summer heat will evaporate the moisture from your lips and make them very dry. When the lips are dry, they crack very easily, due to the lack of moisture.

Deficiency of vitamin B can cause the lips to crack, make sure to eat foods rich in vitamin B.

Exfoliate your lips to remove dead skin cells. Exfoliation reveals smooth skin without cracks. Exfoliate your lips by rubbing them with a gentle toothbrush.

Licking your lips can lead to cracked lips. Saliva has digestive enzymes that help to digest food but these enzymes have a damaging effect on your lips, leaving them sore and cracked.

If you are allergic to any food avoid eating the food. Allergies can also crack your lips very badly.

When you are at home use a humidifier to moisten the air. This will prevent your lips from drying out.

Drink water and keep yourself hydrated. The best thing to do, is to apply lip balm whenever you feel your lips are too dry. When you buy lip balms look for Alpha Hydroxy Acids that help to exfoliate and retain moisture in your skin.

Another reason to take care of your lips is that when you apply lipstick the finish will be smooth.
